Facial aesthetics

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler used to restore volume — around the mouth, in the lips, and in the folds that deepen as facial fat and bone support diminish with age.

What does Juvederm treat?

  • Nasolabial folds — the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines — from the mouth corners downward
  • Lip volume and lip definition
  • Loss of support around the lower third of the face

Results are visible immediately, unlike Botox, which develops over several days.

Why is this called dental filler?

Because the lower third of your face is supported by your teeth. Lip position, the height of your bite and the fullness of the area around the mouth depend on the tooth structure underneath. When teeth wear down or are lost, the face shortens and folds deepen — and no filler substitutes for that lost support.

A dentist can see which problem you actually have. In some cases restoring the bite does more for facial appearance than any injection would, and in some cases the right answer is both. Very few injectors are in a position to tell you that.

How long does it last?

Hyaluronic acid fillers generally last considerably longer than Botox, with the exact duration depending on the product, the area treated and your own metabolism. Touch-ups maintain the result.

Is it safe?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance the body already produces, and these fillers have a long clinical record. We review your medical history and medications first. Bruising and mild swelling for a few days are the usual side effects.
