At Boiano Dental Group we understand and cater to the specific requirements of special needs patients. All of our equipment is handicapped accessible, and treatment is delivered in a caring, unhurried manner.
What makes this office workable for a special needs patient?
Accessibility. All equipment is handicapped accessible.
Imaging that does not fight the patient. The Vatech PaxDuo 3D system takes fast, highly diagnostic scans while you sit upright, with nothing placed inside the mouth — which matters enormously for patients who cannot tolerate conventional films or bite-wing holders.
Sedation, in-office, up to deep. This is the part families most often do not know is possible. Our doctors provide mild to deep sedation in a comfortable private office setting, so there is no longer a need to go to a hospital for deep sedation treatment. That means no operating-room scheduling, no hospital environment, no facility fees.
What sedation options are available?
- Nitrous oxide
- Oral conscious sedation
- IV sedation
See our sedation page for how each one works.
Do you treat patients with autism?
Yes. We work with autistic patients and their families, and we would rather adapt the visit to the patient than the reverse — quieter scheduling, familiarization visits, and a pace set by what the patient can manage that day.
How should we prepare?
Call ahead and tell us what we need to know: sensory triggers, communication preferences, mobility requirements, what has gone badly at other offices, and what has helped. That conversation before the appointment does more good than anything we can improvise on the day.
